Change

Our life is full of change. It seems like Russell’s schedule is like a ping-pong game. Back and forth. But what I’ve learned about ping-pong is that, even when the ball lands on the same side of the table, it will rarely land in the same place twice. And every time the player has to adjust his whole body to reach for the ball.

Flexibility is the key. From day shift to night shift, city to city, IM to phone calls, sleep to no sleep. Ahh the joys of Army life!

I’m not complaining, so I hope that it doesn’t sound like it. The variety in our life definitely can be trying at times, but it also adds new dimensions, and new opportunities.

One brief example…one of the new opportunities that God has given us is the blessing of Russ having a webcam. I actually got to “see” him…twice now, for about an hour. Wow has that been good! It’s so neat to see his face and how he reacts to what I type (although the minute delay between the words and the video can be humorously confusing at times!)

I’m sorry if this seems a bit cryptic, but OPSEC permits me from being able to say more.

Just keep praying for us, that God will keep us strong and flexible. Russell’s schedule is ever-changing and it’s hard for him to establish any sort of regular sleeping routine. Pray that he will stay physically strong and be able to do good at his job.

Hopefully I’ll be writing more this week.
