When you’re discouraged and don’t know what to do, take a walk

February 2, 2019 by Aprille 3 Comments

We return home wet, muddy, and hungry. I’m still just as lost as to what to do to help him. I’m discouraged, yet somehow a little bit refreshed from our adventure walk. I hope and pray that he is too.

This is how we survived the summer

September 1, 2016 by Aprille 1 Comment

At the beginning of the summer, I wrote a blog post about Summer Survival. In that post, I talked about the pull of the romanticized notion of letting kids be bored during the summer – the idyllic 1970s summer that people these days seem so fond of trying to recreate. I also talked about how … [Read more…]

In which I word vomit about my life

June 26, 2016 by Aprille 3 Comments

My house is quiet. My mother-in-law has taken Ezra away to get a 3-day head start on our family vacation and Little Brother is sleeping. The only sound is the air conditioning, the quiet whrrrr of my computer, and my husband in the next room talking with gaming buddies. Ah, this is the life… Scratch … [Read more…]

38 Weeks Pregnancy Bumpdate

August 17, 2015 by Aprille 3 Comments

I’m nearly 39 weeks pregnant, and have decided to give another update to help pass the time. (37 Weeks) I’m managing to stay very active, continuing to walk several days each week and attending prenatal yoga class once a week. This is THE thing that is keeping me going. At 37 weeks, my yoga instructor … [Read more…]

Beauty in the Mess ~ Edition 06.25.15

June 25, 2015 by Aprille 2 Comments

I saw my counsellor yesterday, and she kept telling me how far I’ve come in the last year. She encouraged me to keep counting my blessings and thinking on the things that are true, lovely, and beautiful (Philippians 4:8). I’m conflicted about how to move forward with this monthly-ish series. Because it’s so important for … [Read more…]

What I learned in May 2015

May 29, 2015 by Aprille 1 Comment

1. Whitespace was good in theory. Living it is ten times better. When I thought I was living whitespace, I was just scratching the surface. This morning I read over this post that I wrote 1 year ago today and I almost found it humorous. Because I can’t even imagine living the way I used … [Read more…]

Beauty in the Mess ~ Edition 04.08.15

April 8, 2015 by Aprille 5 Comments

It’s 76 degrees, I’m sitting on my sunporch, and regardless of the fact that I’ve been awake since 4:50AM, I think that right now is the perfect time to be counting my blessings and looking for beauty. The past few weeks have been incredibly wonderful. Ezra’s behavior has made astounding improvements, hubby is doing well … [Read more…]

Beauty in the Mess ~ Edition 06.04.14

June 4, 2014 by Aprille 1 Comment

Can I just take a moment and rave about how great the past few weeks have been? I’m not really sure what has made the difference. Maybe it has something to do with warmer weather, or maybe the new supplement my husband is taking, or maybe the fact that we got to take a vacation and … [Read more…]
