10 baby items I’m still using 10 years later

September 6, 2020 by Aprille Leave a Comment

As of tomorrow, I’ll officially have a 10-year-old on my hands. Instead of giving you an emotional tribute to 10 years of motherhood, I thought I’d do something fun, as well as practical. I’m sure there are thousands of posts out there about what you will really need for a new baby. But I want to talk about the 10 baby things I bought (or was given) as a brand-new mom that have stood the tests of time and two little boys. These are the must-haves of the must-haves:

How having a toddler is different the second time around

October 5, 2016 by Aprille 2 Comments

We officially have a toddler in our house – again. Little Brother turned 13 months old a few days ago. His baby year went by so quickly, I’m scrambling to catch up! Having a toddler again is a really joyous experience. I think the age of 12-18 months was one of my sweetest times with … [Read more…]

An open letter to my blue-eyed baby on his first birthday

Hi Baby. You don’t really understand, but today is your FIRST BIRTHDAY. We made it! And of course, we are celebrating in style by waking up at 5 AM! Little Brother, you have taught me so much this year. This past year has radically transformed the way I view the world, and I owe that … [Read more…]

April 24, 2015 by Aprille 8 Comments

I am so excited to finally be able to share pictures of Little Brother’s baby nursery with all of you!! I have been working at his room off and on since pretty early on. As with Ezra, I got a very strong nesting instinct as soon as I entered the second trimester. And as I … [Read more…]

17 Weeks Bumpdate

March 20, 2015 by Aprille 1 Comment

This pregnancy is definitely going by more quickly than Ezra’s did. Things are continuing to go very smoothly. As far as symptoms, I’m dealing with mild Braxton Hicks and round ligament pain, headaches every few days, and the urge to eat everything, all the time. I recently said this about food and pregnancy: 1) My … [Read more…]

New Year, New Life

December 31, 2014 by Aprille 14 Comments

‘Twas the Sunday before Christmas and we went to the park as a family, where we gave Ezra a sign and asked him to read it. He sounded out the first word pretty easily. Then, we told him the second word and sat down to have a talk about what the words meant. He understood … [Read more…]

Mac Drives, Movies, Mayonnaise, Milk, McDonalds, and Mondays

February 28, 2011 by Aprille 1 Comment

I ran out of milk sometime last week. Well, actually, I didn’t run out…it expired, and I didn’t have any left to replace it. Thus begins the madness that is also known as “the last 5 days of my life.” I shall begin with Thursday morning’s status update: FRG calls – almost done. Photos ordered- … [Read more…]

Ezra’s (Cesarean) Birth Story

February 27, 2011 by Aprille 34 Comments

“Let labor begin on it’s own…” (Lamaze Healthy Birth Practice #1) On the evening of September 6, 2010, this was the one thing I was trying to repeat over and over to myself. I was almost 41 weeks pregnant. In the months leading up to Ezra’s birth, I had done of lot of research into … [Read more…]
