Love in the Deep End: A Star is Born

December 24, 2019 by Aprille 1 Comment

A deep and broken love…a star is born. Not the star of a woman thrust into fame, but the star of sacrificial love that burned bright because a woman gave herself away by loving in the deep end. I want to love like that.

When the Christmas spirit is no longer broken and joy is less of a choice

December 18, 2016 by Aprille 1 Comment

I sat down to work on our yearly Christmas e-mail this past Wednesday. Three hours later I was still typing and formatting. I got done and was completely overwhelmed and undone. December has already been so full. Just. So. Full. Of. Goodness. Sunday two weeks ago, we joined a Sunday School class that is discussing … [Read more…]

When you’re too tired to be a good wife

April 16, 2016 by Aprille 7 Comments

This week was one of those weeks – the kind of week where I really was too tired to be a good wife. Little Brother was going through his sixth week of not sleeping through the night. (He has cut six teeth in five weeks while simultaneously figuring out hands-and-knees crawling AND pulling up – “wonder week” would be … [Read more…]

Ours is a minivan kind of love

February 25, 2016 by Aprille 3 Comments

It was our one-month wedding anniversary the day that I wrecked my Chevy Malibu. I was about to turn right onto a busier street when I saw a pickup coming fast. I panicked and pressed the gas instead of the brake. Bam. I hadn’t had the car for long. My parents had bought it for me … [Read more…]

Roses in the dumpster: seeing God in everyday life

July 11, 2013 by Aprille 25 Comments

But God isn’t nearly as far away as you think. Open your eyes. Look around you for his love – for his grace – today in the ordinary, in the human, in the messy, in the everyday. He’s there, waiting to love you.

Harmful Courtship Teachings: the Myth of the Construction Paper Heart

January 7, 2013 by Aprille 43 Comments

I’m currently a 25-year-old married woman and mother of one. This morning my son woke up at 5:45, but was scared to enter the hallway because the hall night-light was broken. He crawled back in bed and went to sleep. Unfortunately for me, I have a touch of a cold and cough and as much as … [Read more…]

Life Is Beautiful

February 25, 2012 by Aprille 4 Comments

It is of the small joys and little pleasures that the greatest of our days are built. Mary Anne Radmacher January and February have been very full months for our family. Full of ordinary days and ordinary moments. They have been fun and relaxing, but busy as well. Ordinary, busy, relaxing, and beautiful… My husband … [Read more…]
