My eyes were burning. My heart was pounding. It was 2:00 AM, and I was wired from the internet frenzy that was election night. I had multiple Twitter feeds open in multiple tabs. The tabs contained two right-wing conservative white males, a Catholic blogger who lived in California, a pro-LGBT outspoken feminist “evangelical,” and a … [Read more…]
I’m not the biggest fan of baby showers. Also, we didn’t really need much for this baby (perks of having two boys and saving everything). I had read about the idea of having a Blessingway or Mother Blessing online and in my Birthing From Within Journal. “Unlike a traditional baby shower, where gifts are purchased for the … [Read more…]
Linking up today with Emily Freeman, sharing all of the random things I learned in March. 1. The best TV romances are the ones you don’t see coming…especially between your two Grey’s Anatomy / Private Practice favorite characters of all time. This needed to happen. And I’m so glad it did. 2. The Grey’s Anatomy … [Read more…]
It’s been a truly blessed couple of weeks. We found out just before Thanksgiving that Russ had been offered a job as a government employee. His new job would start December 15th, which gave us several more weeks to just be together as a family without stressing out about actually finding a job. Granted, the … [Read more…]
I really have no words for how difficult the last few weeks have been for our family. Our son’s behavior has led to both a suspension and expulsion from his private preschool (although those words were never used and the school was ever-so-gracious about both). While we are well on our way to getting some … [Read more…]
And I want you to know that somewhere, in that mess you look at and call life, there is beauty there too. Grasp it. Hold onto it. Share it. Because it is your hope.
My husband told Ezra that we were going to take Cow on our trip with us so that he could have all sorts of adventures. And that we would take pictures of Cow so that he could look at them when he got back.
Thank you so much for your outpouring of heartfelt comments on my last post. It was so nice to feel less alone – and I was reminded yet again of the power of vulnerability and how it can touch the hearts of others when I least expect it. Now, it’s that time when I share … [Read more…]
God our Father We thank You For our many blessings Amen
Finding God’s beauty in spite of our messy, everyday life. A lengthly post of pictures and updates from August and September 2013.
But that very brief time that I spent at that church didn’t pull me down. In contrast, it really opened my eyes to a lot of things: I realized that the body of Christ is much bigger than I thought. I realized that God could be found in places where I thought I should never dare show up.
I’m sitting in front of my computer almost on the verge of tears…tears of joy, tears of awe at both the goodness of God and the miraculous power of His timing of events in my life. I could probably (and most likely will) fill multiple blog posts about all that God did for me during … [Read more…]
The first pumpkin spice latte of the season:
Ezra isn’t the only one who stayed busy this summer. And even though our lives intersect so much that the lines of reality blur (like yesterday, when I went to the store, and almost put the cart back because the child safety belt was messed up…only to realize I was shopping alone and the strap … [Read more…]
My husband and I have extremely different tastes in music. I like country and operatic pop. He likes 80s-90s rock and trance and a bunch of other random stuff. He likes to poke fun at my favorite country songs by making up his own words and renditions. It has become a little bit of a … [Read more…]
